A sound has a shape
Every note has a shape over time. Attack is how fast it arrives, decay is how fast it settles, sustain is the level it holds, and release is how long it lingers after it ends.
The graph is the loudness of one note over time. Drag a slider and watch the shape, and the sound, change together.
That is the idea.
Short and sharp is a pluck. Slow in and slow out is a pad. Same notes, same wave.
