A chord is notes played together
Take a note of the key, skip one, take the next, skip one, take the next. Played together those three are a chord. Start the same recipe from a different note and you get the next chord.
Notes stacked on the same pad sound together. The keyboard shows which three are ringing.
That is the idea.
Most songs are three or four chords taking turns.
