What GarageBand is better at, and what it is not.
GarageBand records: vocals, guitar through amps, real instruments. It has a mixer, effects and a path up to Logic Pro. None of that is here, and if you sing or play, keep GarageBand.
What GarageBand does not do is tell you why. Why the bassline should follow the kick, why the chorus lifts, why swing makes a beat walk instead of march. Here every change, yours or the assistant's, can be explained, and the instrument is small enough that the explanation makes sense.
Questions people ask
Is there a GarageBand for Windows?
No. Apple has never released GarageBand for Windows, Chromebooks or the web. This instrument runs in any modern browser on any laptop or desktop, with nothing to install.
Can it record my voice or guitar?
No. You can import audio and slice it, but there is no microphone recording. For recording, GarageBand is the right tool, and you can bring your song here into it as audio.
Does it have something like Drummer?
Not a virtual drummer. It has drum patterns you build on a grid, packs of grooves to start from, and a co-producer that will write or change a drum part when you ask and explain what it did.
What does it cost?
Free to start, and the free plan is the whole instrument with a limited amount of co-producer time each month. Paid plans add more co-producer time and storage.
