Fair use

This page is part of our Terms of Service. We put it on its own page, and at the top of the Terms, because it is the part that affects what you can do day to day.

What the limits are

Each plan comes with its own allowances. The current numbers for every plan are on the pricing page, and your own plan is shown in your settings. The allowances are:

• Projects you can keep at one time, and the number of instruments and patterns in each project.
• Co-producer time each month. Each thing you ask the co-producer to do uses some of it. The chat shows what is left.
• Recording minutes each month. A recording is your song rendered to an audio file and kept for you.
• Stem splits each month, on the paid plans, where the stem splitter is available.
• Storage: how much audio we keep for you in all (recordings, imported audio and stems). When it is full, nothing is deleted: you cannot add more until you delete something in Settings or move to a bigger plan.

Some limits are technical and the same on every plan:

• An imported audio file can be up to 20 MB.
• A song sent to the stem splitter can be up to 10 minutes long.
• A single recording can be up to 7 minutes long.

Allowances may change as we learn what things cost to run. We will describe material changes on the pricing page or in the product before they apply to you.

How allowances work

• Monthly allowances reset each month. Unused allowance does not carry over.
• Allowance is spent when the work is done. Deleting a recording or a stem split does not give its allowance back. A stem split that fails does not count.
• When you reach a limit, that one feature stops until the month turns over, or until you delete something to make room (for projects, instruments and patterns). Everything else keeps working.
• Nothing is deleted when you reach a limit. Your projects, recordings and library stay exactly where they are.

The free tools

The tools at /tools are free and most of them need no account. They are provided as they are. We may rate limit them, change them or withdraw them. The stem splitter runs on our servers, so it needs an account and has a monthly allowance.

What we ask you not to do

Some of these protect the service. The rest protect other people. When you use the service, you agree not to:

• Share an account, or use several accounts, to pool or get around allowances. An account is for one person.
• Automate the service. No scripts, bots or other automated use of the studio, the co-producer or the free tools, and no scraping of pages or audio. Ordinary search engine crawling of public pages is fine.
• Resell or rent access to the service or to your account.
• Use the co-producer for things that are not your music. It is not a general purpose chatbot, and you may not try to extract its instructions or use it to build a competing product.
• Put unusual load on the service, interfere with how it runs, or disrupt the networks it depends on.
• Get around, disable or probe its security, or try to reach accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
• Collect or extract information about other people from the service, including their accounts, their email addresses or what they made.
• Upload or send anything harmful: malware, or anything designed to collect information from other people's browsers, such as tracking pixels or scripts.
• Trick, defraud or mislead us or other people. No false reports, no impersonating another person or organisation, no passing off someone else's work as your own.
• Harass, threaten or intimidate anyone, including the people who run the service.
• Import, split or share audio you do not have the right to use. See Copyright and takedowns.
• Break the law, or use the service in a way that is inconsistent with any law that applies to you.

Accounts found doing any of these may be closed without notice.

What we do about it

Most of the time, nothing: the limits take care of themselves. Where use looks automated, abusive or designed to get around a limit, we may slow requests down, pause a feature, remove sharing, or suspend or close the account. We will normally warn you first and give you a chance to explain, unless the behaviour is harming other people or the service, or the law requires us to act at once.

How to report abuse

Every shared song and shared library item has a Report this link on its page. Use it for anything on that page, whether it is not theirs to share, is offensive, is spam, or breaks these rules some other way. You do not need an account.

For anything else, write to [email protected] with as much detail as you can: the account or content, what it is doing, and how you found it, with links or screenshots. We will not disclose your identity to anyone connected with the account you reported. For copyright cases, the Copyright and takedowns page says what a notice needs to contain.
