BPM is beats per minute. At 60 BPM there is one beat every second, the pace of a slow walk. At 120 there are two a second, a brisk walk and the tempo of a great deal of pop and dance music. Most songs live somewhere between 70 and 140.
Start slower than you think you need to, slow enough to play the part perfectly. Play it right three times in a row, then raise the tempo by five. It feels slow and it is the fastest way there is. Practising fast and wrong only teaches your hands the mistakes.
Music is counted in groups, most often groups of four, and the first beat of each group is where phrases begin and chords change. Hearing it marked keeps you from drifting a beat ahead or behind without noticing.
Yes. The clicks are scheduled ahead of time on your device's audio clock rather than by a timer, which is the same way music software keeps time, so they do not drift or stutter when the page is busy.
Press Tap along with the beat of the song for a few bars. The metronome sets itself to the tempo you tapped. There is also a bigger tap pad on the BPM tapper page, and if you have the song as a file, the BPM and key finder will measure it for you.
