Steady hats that break into bursts of fast notes. A block softens every other hit so the rolls ripple.
Fast clock, slow snare
In Trap bounce the snare and clap land only on beat three of each bar. Most music puts them on two and four. Waiting for beat three makes the beat feel half as fast, while the hats keep running at full speed above it. That contrast, busy on top and heavy underneath, is the sound.
Hat rolls
Hat rolls plays steady hats that suddenly break into bursts of fast notes. On the grid it is simply more squares lit in a row. A block softens every second hit, so a burst ripples instead of rattling like a machine gun. Try moving where the bursts fall: at the end of a bar they push you into the next one.
The 808 is a bass and a drum
Long 808 is a pure, low sine wave with a long tail. It began life as the kick drum of an old drum machine, stretched until it had a pitch. Because it rings for so long, it needs very few notes, and each one should be given room. In Trap bounce it plays its own slow melody under the kick.
Night bells shows the other half of the style: a falling minor melody on a bell, five, three, one, over a dark pad. Minor keys fall well, and each phrase ends lower than it started.
